Our methodology
1. National employability platforms
Field Ready operates government recognised ‘National Employability Platforms’, to enhance youth employability at scale.
Young people join for free, in order to access:
- High-quality online employability training programmes.
- Resources including webinars, videos and written guides to help young people succeed in employment.
- Mentorship, face-to-face training, workshops, internships and jobs across a range of industries.
We monitor candidates as they enhance their employability and link them to internships and jobs.
2. Youth employability programmes
Programmes targeted at improving youth employability:
- Permit-to-Learn: HSE focused training designed to give companies the confidence to offer entry-level people safe access to a ‘live’ working environment.
- Field Ready Complete: An intensive employability programme including practical technical skills, HSE, Applied Personal Skills. It is delivered full-time over two-four months within state education institutions.
- Internships: We design internships that prepare candidates to follow procedures, problem solve and take responsibility, so they are ready to work.
- Applied Personal Skills for Schools: A certified programme, delivered at schools, for final year students to improve communication, confidence, problem-solving and more.
3. Existing employee programmes
Programmes targeted at your existing employees:
- Coaching Excellence Programme: A practical training programme designed to train supervisors and managers with the skills to effectively coach junior staff,
- Applied Personal Skills: The core skills focused on communication, collaboration, team-work, critical thinking and much more.
- Bespoke: We design specific programmes based on your needs. For example we have delivered Gender Action Plans, Unconscious Bias, Mentorship programmes and more.
4. Field Ready Alliance
We work with an Alliance of companies and government organisations dedicated to collectively improving the youth employability.
Alliance members have helped us to develop and monitor our unique programmes. Collectively they provide a ‘universe of opportunities’ to young people through our National Employability Platforms.
‘Technical Commissioners’ are positive and ambitious managers who are passionate about youth development. They volunteer to support the selection, mentorship and certification of candidates.
Field Ready operates unique networking meetings and dinners for Alliance partners.
Attracted and selected 60 candidates from the local community for hands-on technical roles, 45% of whom were women. All received Applied Personal Skills and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) training ahead of joining the new state of the art factory in rural area. In addition, Field Ready found and trained 10 high-potential entry-level technical supervisors, with a training programme focused on practical technical training, Applied Personal Skills and HSE.
We have trained over 300 staff members, we have trained their existing technical line managers to be excellent coaches of new and junior staff; delivered mentorship training; delivered an unconscious bias train-the-trainer programme; delivered HSE training for managers; designed a Gender plan and much more.
60 mid-level supervisors and managers at Coca Cola’s operations in two plants across Central and Northern Mozambique and required upskilling in management and leadership. Reviewed in detail the needs of each plant team to tailor the programme. Delivered a coaching excellence training programmes, face-to-face over several months that has led to positive management behavioural change.
Selection of 20 entry-level technical and non-technical personnel to join the business across three operating sites in Mozambique. Field Ready operated an independent advertisement campaign and candidate selection process to identify the best young women and men.
MRM required 31 new, high-calibre, entry-level technical employees across a range of departments, disciplines and academic levels. Using the Mozambique Employability Platform, Field Ready marketed the opportunity to thousands of candidates. This was followed by a rigorous and independent selection process to identify the best candidates. MRM’s selected candidates completed a unique employability training programme and structured internship/placement at MRM.
To achieve the retention of the candidates, MRM sought to cultivate a coaching management style amongst MRM’s line-managers. To achieve this, Field Ready delivered a dedicated ‘Coaching Excellence’ training programme for 13 existing leaders at MRM.
MPDC placed 56 mid-managers from technical disciplines onto a 9-week face-to-face coaching training programme. The training led to more confident and effective coaches and managers and was part of the company’s local succession plan. Each trainee developed a coaching plan.
Over the last five years, Field Ready has been working with HCB, a major hydroelectric power company to find and train recent graduates for entry-level engineer positions. The company’s technical managers are engaged in the selection of candidates, curriculum development and internship planning. Training is delivered in partnership with national technical institutes.
Developed a solution to train managers from operations and maintenance teams through the Coaching Excellence for Technical People programme. Managers were selected from different countries and departments.
After the programme, there was a significant behavioural change in the management of junior reports, including better communication and more support towards company diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Developed the skills, knowledge, and behaviours of 6 selected Mozambican candidates, preparing them to excel in industrial settings and become 'Field Ready' employees. The 6 young Mozambicans flew from Mozambique to Ghana. They completed training at Takoradi Technical Institute. During the programme they had weekly cultural visits across Ghana. After the classes they complete internship at TechnipFMC’s facility, prior to returning to Mozambique.
